A CHANCE FOR CHANGE

We’ve all come across someone down on their luck and have even passed on a few bucks, a sandwich, a water bottle. However, the perception that all these human beings are drug addicts, lazy, or alcoholics is wrong. Some have lost it all, including hope and faith. Others have lost and don’t know how to get back or where to get help.

If you are the type of person who will give your extra change or a meal, why not point them in a direction of a local resource that might help them get back on their feet.

The Chance for Change is a simple pdf form that can be downloaded and filled out with local resources and handed to someone with your gift you would have given them anyway. How it works:

1) Download the attached fillable PDF Form
2) Search for local resources and type them in the spaces
3) Print out the handout and keep it in your vehicle
4) Bless the next human you gift with the handouts

Kindness towards other people, especially those we don’t know, speaks to our humanity and has more to do with your view of humanity and the content of your character than anything else.

“Our actions both define and reveal our character.”

I used to be somebody’s sombody

Once a loving mother
now living on the street
haunted reminiscence
harborage for hope’s retreat

Little league playing brother
for a moment lost his way
mislead pride of others
now steel bars for all his days

Wide-eyed dreaming daughter
stranded, alone and lost
giving away her innocence
to vermin for a cost

He used to be someone’s dad
now living behind the store
still a spark of hope
of how things were before

Most of who we call homeless
didn’t mean to start that way
they laughed, they loved and lived
devoted to a typical day

At some point, life forced a hand
passion lost, they turned away
lost hope, faith and dreams
and living a better way

So gestures and understanding
for who they used to be
may change a person’s outlook
to be more like you and me.
